CELEBRATION OF RAY’S LIFE SERVICE: 11 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, IL with Pastor Brad Harris officiating.  Burial will follow in the Oblong Cemetery.

Raymond C. “Ray” Poindexter, 34, Cypress, TX, formerly of Annapolis, IL passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 17, 2015 in Houston, TX.

Ray was born on February 10, 1981 in Evanston, WY and was the son of Donald Lee Poindexter Jr. and Linda Diane Price.

Ray was a technician at Black Horse Industries a Division of Caterpillar making oilfield pumps.  Ray grew up in the Annapolis, IL area and attended Olive Branch Baptist Church rural Annapolis, IL in his youth.  He attended schools in Oblong and Hutsonville, IL and was a member of the Southeastern Illinois Motorcycle Enthusiast.  Ray loved to ride his motorcycle, watching the Chicago Cubs, hockey, traveling, camping, fishing and dogs, especially his special 4 legged companion “Dexter”.

Ray is survived by his mother Linda D. and William Gamblin of Annapolis, IL and his father Donald L. and Cynthia Poindexter, Jr. of Sunbright, TN; a son Dallas Harwood and a daughter Nevaeh Raeann Poindexter both of Keokuk, IA; a sister Leann Ohlman  of Casey, IL; paternal grandparents Donald Lee and Darlene Poindexter, Sr. of South Carolina; two nieces Savanah Phillippe of Robinson, IL and Lindsay Ohlman of Casey, IL; a nephew Garrett Markello of Casey, IL; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding Ray in death was his half brother Donald Lee Poindexter III; maternal grandparents James and Lucille Price and grandmother Claudia Gamblin.
